Bio

Ian HunterIAN HUNTER, CTS
Senior Consultant

Coming from a family legacy in the AV business, Ian has been involved with various forms of theatre and live production for over 15 years, including extensive work in live events and with professional AV rental companies.

During his undergraduate studies toward earning a B.A. in Technical Theatre from Brigham Young University, Ian spent two years in Japan in service for his church. He went on to receive a Master of Fine Arts degree in Theatre Sound Design from Purdue University. Ian’s first exposure to consulting was during an internship at Jones & Phillips Associates, a theatre consulting firm in Lafayette, Indiana. He then worked in AV system design and project management with Auerbach Pollock Friedlander for three years, where he collaborated on dozens of projects ranging in size from community libraries to high end corporate presentation theatres and large scale performing arts complexes. Skilled also in project management, past projects include:

  • The Tracy Grand Theatre renovation, Tracy, CA.
  • Bob Hope Fox Theatre renovation, Stockton, CA.
  • Qualcomm Theatre, San Diego, CA.
  • Victoria Gardens Cultural Center, Rancho Cucamonga, CA.
  • Purdue University Recording Studio and Theatres, West Lafayette, IN.
  • Evergreen Community College, San Jose, CA.

Additionally, Ian completed AV system design work on a number of middle and high school theatres, gymnasiums and stadiums. Ian is dedicated to working with clients and contractors to provide AV systems that meet a client’s needs and, most importantly, are simple to understand and operate.

Ian continues to work in live theatre, providing sound design and engineering for live productions around the Bay Area. This is an important factor in keeping abreast of the continually changing face of live theatre production.

Ian is a Certified Technology Specialist (CTS), as administered by the International Communications Industries Association (ICIA), and is a member of the United States Institute for Theatre Technology (USITT).
