Erik Carter, AIA

Consultant

Erik Carter brings a rare blend of artistic, technical, and construction expertise to his work designing music and performance spaces. As lifelong musician, a licensed architect, and former licensed electrician and certified AV technician, Erik sees each venue from multiple angles: performer, audience member, technician, designer, and contractor. He draws on over 25 years of firsthand experience in live performance from the stage to the booth to the jobsite, to shape creative environments that truly support artistic expression.

Before joining The Shalleck Collaborative in 2017, Erik worked as an audio engineer in Los Angeles recording studios and as a licensed installer of sound and lighting systems across the U.S. His nearly two dozen industry certifications reflect deep proficiency in systems integration and field coordination. As a theatre consultant, he leads with a comprehensive understanding of how equipment, architecture, and artistic intent converge in live performance environments.

Erik is driven by a personal mission to enhance the artist’s voice and the audience’s experience, ensuring each space is as responsive, inspiring, and artful as the performances it will host.
